[TRANS] 130515 Max Changmin’s Unexpected Charm Shines Through In ‘Our Neighborhood’s Master of Variety And Sports’

[TRANS] 130515 Max Changmin’s Unexpected Charm Shines Through In ‘Our Neighborhood’s Master of Variety And Sports’

Could there be an idol more charmingly lacking than him?

During the episode of KBS 2TV’s ‘Our Neighborhood’s Master of Variety and Sports’ that aired on the 14th, Max Changmin had the show’s viewers in peals of laughter with his unexpected charm.

While practicing together, the members decided to choose a loser for a punishment, and since Max Changmin lost, he was told to buy energy drinks without talking at all while holding the perfect bowler’s pose. But buying drinks without saying a word was like picking a star out of the sky. The punishment suddenly turned into a game of Charades and Max Changmin was finally able to complete the task after a serious bout of pantomime.

The problem didn’t stop here. Max Changmin had to return to the other members while carrying the unexpectedly heavy bag of drinks. WIth his legs giving out under him and falling to the floor, Max Changmin’s slapstick comedy showed the star’s more vulnerable side. Last week’s set of slapstick comedy and this week’s pantomime has everyone wondering, ‘Is this really the TVXQ we thought we knew?’ The lacking but silly charm that Max Changmin is exuding in ‘Our Neighborhood’s Master of Variety and Sports’ is completely different from his charisma on stage, showing everyone a refreshing new side of the star.

Though he is not as athletic as the other members, he has created a concrete role for himself. When he lost 11:2 in a match with the Mokdong Ping Pongs, he was able to take this and make a joke out of it, and is able to shine amidst the teasing he gets from the others.

‘Our Neighborhood’s Master of Variety and Sports’ recording a viewership of 7.5% for its sixth episode (Nielsen Korea), which is its highest viewership yet and is a 0.8% increase from last week’s, helping the show secure its 6th consecutive week as the most watched show in the time slot. The program, which promotes a healthy lifestyle by pitting celebrities against neighborhood sports teams, plans to have Kang Ho Dong, Lee Soo Geun, Max Changmin, Jo Dal Hwan, Lee Byung Jin, Alex and Ahn Hyung Jun bowling against Daegu’s Weolseong-dong United. The show airs at 11:10pm every Friday.
